An anime that I've really gotten into is Sergeant Frog, I know there's an article and some talk about the lost ADV english dub pilot. There's a dub of the show created by Animax, which have dubbed quite a bit of other anime as well. Seems like they ended up dubbing more episodes than Funimation, from what I've heard some commenters on YouTube say, is more accurate to the original Japanese version of the show but still changed some things around. I couldn't find that much information on how much was exactly dubbed, but I'm assuming at the very least season 1-3 was dubbed and it also seems to pre-date Funimation. There are several episodes archived on Archive.org, episode 143, 145-154 And several clips that exist from clips of the show along with commercials on YouTube: Here's the archived Sgt. Frog page on the Animax site, doesn't have a whole lot of information outside of the schedule and synopsis. Has anybody heard of this dub of the anime or remember watching it? Doesn't seem to be much information or any episodes online other than the ones I listed at Archive, at least to my knowledge. Feel free to share your comments, it would be cool to see more episodes uploaded or uncovered! | Last Edit: Apr 3, 2023 0:28:56 GMT by simfan96 |

They are only via Torrent. I'm a bit iffy on torrents, I don't know a lot about them, and know that a lot of copyright companies in the past have used torrents to catch copyright infringers. I also don't know if it's against the rules to discuss/link torrents or not, so I wanted to make sure on that as well before I mention anything else about it. Haven't been able to find anything of season 1 and season 2 sadly, reading some comments a good chunk of them used to be on YouTube and I remember for a fact that they removed a TON of Sgt. Frog/Keroro Gunso content from YouTube last year. We're talking videos that have been up since 2009/2010, and more than likely earlier. Leaving what I'm assuming all of those videos to be lost. I did find more promos for the Animax version! | Last Edit: Apr 2, 2023 14:41:57 GMT by simfan96 |

No idea about Seasons 1-2, though since they're older I kind of doubt there's that many full episodes saved. AnimeIndia had a tendency of only archiving Animax dubs from around the 2010s, and only ones that they found the most interesting. (I remember reading a thread where one of the mods said that they stopped recording episodes of an Animax dub because it was boring to them...) They're also pretty selective of who gets to have their dubs. They might still have files for Seasons 3-4, but I don't think they'd allow you to upload them online, for example. When I tried uploading some episodes of a lost Animax dub, I was told to remove them by the owners of AnimeIndia because the person who gave me the files "received them without permission" or something weird like that. I also wasn't allowed to modify the files in any way to improve the video quality (whoever synced the audio + video together used footage from KissAnime with a watermark in the corner). It was a super weird situation, but you'll probably run into them if you continue searching for this dub.

I've read into it further, and I know that a good chunk of Animax dubs have been lost over time as well, some have been rediscovered. Makes me wonder why these dubs are rarely released and how they were rediscovered if they were lost. I know that Cardcaptor Sakura has an Animax dub that is on Netflix that is available, not sure if anything other than that is currently available for streaming or has ever seen a release though. Very interesting information that you've shared and discovered yourself while searching for the dub, and I appreciate you sharing that with me! That is a super weird situation and makes me wonder why they were so concerned about that being released as well at that time, especially when you weren't allowed to modify the files to match a higher quality. Wouldn't surprise me if a good chunk of the dub from the first seasons was on YouTube but was now deleted since they removed so much Sgt. Frog content from the site. Not kidding, watched the first episodes of the Funimation dub probably a month or so before they got wiped on YouTube. Makes me wish that I got into the series much earlier than I did! Hard to say where to look next, but I'm hoping these can be unearthed or found one day! Thanks again for your information! Edit: Apparently a user on Dailymotion called "luciferspear" uploaded a lot of Animax episodes from the 3rd season, of course none of the videos work and are now removed sadly. Here's a link to the website on Archive.orgI also made an interesting discovery that there are Thai and Spanish dubs of the show that were of season 3. | Last Edit: Apr 3, 2023 0:17:24 GMT by simfan96 |

This somehow reminds me of another anime Animax dubbed, called Emma: A Victorian Romance (or something like that); I could only find traces of the second season having being dubbed, but nothing about the first season. In fact, there used to be a BitChute channel that was archiving rare Animax dubs (sadly nothing about Keroro) that got terminated, I assume because all of them most likely came from AnimeIndia. I recall they had dubs like GetBackers!, Pretty Rhythm, among others. But that's a little off topic lol I'm not surprised that seemingly only S3 and S4 got archived, somewhat. Keroro is a very long show, and S3 and S4 aired way more recently than S1 and S2 (which aired in the 2000s); so take that and add the fact that Animax's dubs are already pretty rare by themselves, I wouldn't be surprised at all if S1 and S2 are just gone from the face of the Earth by now, with promos and stuff being all that's left. I'm also very curious to know if they went as far as to dub the movies. I'm unfamiliar with how Animax utilizes its licenses, but as far as I know, acquiring an anime license means also acquiring OVAs and movies, so there's a chance that the movies also have rare Animax made English dubs floating around somewhere.

That's awesome and very much appreciated! I'm glad that most of Season 3-4 was located, that's really good! I watched a good couple of episodes, the dub is definitely interesting, especially hearing the voices compared to the Funimation and Japanese versions. Some choices of the voices for the characters are unfitting, but some do a good job at matching the characters!

It's an awesome show! I just finished both seasons, I think I'm on episode 105 now, start of season 3, one of my favorite anime I would say! It's really sad that channel got removed, especially for containing such rare finds as those Animax dubs. I think the chance someone recorded Keroro season 1-2 are very low, considering just the vast amount of episodes both seasons have (103 episodes) and from the dub being around 2008-2009, not only that but you had to watch it live to see it and hopefully record it otherwise anytime after that you are out of luck. Really?! I would be very interested to know if there was ever a Keroro movie dub or if that was even in the discussion! I would love to see more information surface about the show's dub and if that was While I didn't find any footage or audio from this dub, I did find an interesting comment about the dub, talking about some of the interesting quirks about this dub from November of 2008. Apparently in episode 18 when Keroro used the dialect changer on Natsumi (in the Funimation version, causing her to swear), in the Animax version apparently they changed it so Natsumi got an Australian accent in this episode. hahaha mechatalk.net/viewtopic.php?t=10376 (Ryujin's comment on the post.)

Oh wow, the joke is actually a little farther to the original japanese version in the Animax dub then (since iirc Natsumi was making bad old man jokes or something along those lines?), but knowing this now makes me wonder what other quirks did this dub have when it comes to those jokes that need to be adapted to work in other languages. For example, sometimes Keroro changes his way of talking to an Osaka accent, so how would they have adapted that?
