The objectives of this paper are (1) building a Value Added Spiritual Capital (VASC) model which is an extended VAIC model; (2) Building a New Concept of Human Capital Efficiency. The paper employs an interpretive paradigm by reinterpreting the existing text about intellectual capital concept and synergizing it with value added of accounting for mato -based profit sharing system. This study produced an extended VAIC model, namely Value Added Spiritual Capital (VASC). Three development results are: Firstly, adding a new element of intellectual capital, namely the organizational spiritual capital. Secondly, measuring the role of each intellectual capital (IC) element to create value added. Thirdly, conducting an extended measurement of Human Capital Efficiency (EHCE), which is represented by Value Added Per Mato (VAPM) as the proxy to result EHCE model.

Abstract: The authors attempt to explore the positives of cross-cultural interactions in multicultural organizations such as multinational companies (MNCs) and multicultural teams (MTs). The prior research has generally accentuated problems in relationships among foreigners and less effort has been made so far to examine the benefits flowing from multiculturalism. Therefore, there is a need to fill in the gap identified above by providing evidence that professional contacts with representatives of different national cultural circles may be very fruitful for both multicultural organizations as well as individuals who are employed by them. The initial results of the authors’ study suggests that the following major positives can be obtained due to cultural diversity, namely 1) personal growth; 2) more creativity and innovation due to, among other factors, enhanced learning; 3) flexibility in working styles; 4) more effective communication; 5) individual benefits; and finally 6) confrontation with stereotypes.

Corporate Governance (CG) has gained momentous attention within the Asia-Pacific region. Whilst Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) still play a major role in most economies, particularly in emerging economies which contribute around 33 percent of Gross Domestic Products (GDP). The CG compliance codes has become the norm for listed firms across the globe. This study purposed to compare and analyse the Disclosures and Transparency (D&T) of CG items between Malaysia and Indonesia’s SMEs’ listed firms. The design and methodology used in this study is a descriptive analysis approaches based on secondary data sources, i.e the SMEs Annual Report and the companies’ website. It found that Indonesia listed SMEs have better performance against Malaysia’s listed SMEs which D&T scores was 71% and 51%, respectively; mainly in several D&T items, including, the annual report quality, related party transactions disclosure, medium of communications, timely annual and financial reports publications, company’s website performance and investor relations contact. The value of the outward FDI stock from the south reached $1.4 trillion dollars, or 13% of the world total (UNCTAD 2006). Environmental awareness has increasingly become a global concern during this 21st century. Malaysians have begun to realize how important it is to sustain the country‘s environment. There has been an increasing concern among individuals, business organizations, societies, and estates. This study aims to understand the extent of commitment by consumers toward protecting and preserving the environment through product usage and disposal activities and to analyze how much this concern for environmental protection influences purchasing decisions. There is a need to develop guidelines for consumers and organizations on the most effective ways to protect and preserve the environment.

This paper aims to highlight some of the issues and challenges raised by implementing the most efficient approach for water pricing, to induce a sustainable water demand management. Therefore, we define the concept and utility of water demand management, as one objective of efficient water pricing. Next we briefly analyse some features of the water demand function and show some empirical evidence on the true correlation between the water pricing and the demand of water in Romania. We end with conclusions and some personal recommendations on the actual opportunity, prospects, and challenges of sustainable water pricing.

This article offers two interrelated strategies to be used facing corporate social responsibility challenges. As integrated strategies, they both recognize non-market and social forces while dealing with traditional business issues and taking into account the reality of the market. Avant-garde advocating for progressive social responsibility policy enables firms, the game-changers to actively or even proactively shape their own strategy by raising barriers to competitors striving to develop identical status. Systematically conforming to current and changing standards of social responsibility set forth by policy makers and supported by policy activists allows firms, the game-followers to adapt to the situation at their own pace. This article presents four Vietnamese case studies that highlight how some firms have successfully implemented these strategies while others have not.

Household debt in Malaysia has been on an upward trend and increasing at a relatively fast pace. This study provides an in-depth analysis of the current Malaysian urban households’ vulnerabilities and risks and determines differences across the three major ethnic groups of Malay, Chinese and Indian. It examines households’ perception of risk, their capacity to bear risk, and their coping strategies. The study finds that Malaysian urban households are somewhat vulnerable and more so among the Malay households. Households perceive their exposure to small shocks to be somewhat likely, with Malay households’ rating the likelihood to be higher than others. It is found that 6.2% of the households were not able to deal with a small shock, while more than 20% were unable to cope with a large shock. Households will resort to using their savings or cutting down daily expenditure, or turn to family and friends in coping with financial shocks. Malay households have less and fewer sources of fun...
